Thibaut Courtois has suggested he would be looking for a Chelsea exit if, like Petr Cech, he was second choice. Cech earlier this week said his future is entirely in the club’s hands after he was displaced as first-choice goalkeeper by Courtois following 10 years as the Blues number one. Belgium goalkeeper Courtois told Sky Sports: “As a goalkeeper you want to play. If I was in that situation and I didn’t play a lot, then I would leave too. Press Association “I think Petr is still a goalkeeper with a lot of quality and one of the best there is.” Cech has been linked with a number of the world’s leading clubs, including Paris St Germain and Real Madrid, but still has 18 months to run on his current four-year deal. The 32-year-old has made four starts for the Blues this season, two in the Champions League, as manager Jose Mourinho bids to persuade him to stay and apply pressure on Courtois for the number one position. Despite leading the Premier League and being eight points clear of defending champions Manchester City, Mourinho is continuing to fine tune his squad. Andre Schurrle this week played down reports he is set to exit after a disappointing start to the season following his summer World Cup win with Germany. Egypt forward Mohamed Salah is another who has struggled to make an impact this term and has been linked with moves elsewhere.

Holloway wants more new signingsEmbed from Getty ImagesIan Holloway says it will take QPR two more transfer windows to significantly turn their fortunes around.Manager Holloway made wholesale changes in January and wants to further revamp his squad after losing 18 of his 30 matches since replacing the sacked Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.Financial Fair Play rules and ongoing legal wrangling over the scale of QPR’s fine for the club’s previous lavish spending mean there will be less money to spend.“It’s going to take another couple of windows. We’re not moving forward money-wise, we’ll be moving backwards,” Holloway said.“Other clubs might be adding to their budgets, but we’ve thrown a load of money away and we’re not going to do that anymore.“Hopefully, with the new scouting network I’m putting together, I’ll be able to coach and I’ll be able to get people I can have.” Bees trigger Jota clauseBrentford have taken up an option in Jota’s contract to keep him at Griffin Park until the end of next season. A Comprehensive Guide to a Content Audit Tags:#Augmented Reality#Google#Google Glass#marketing#pornography Facebook is Becoming Less Personal and More Pro… sarah rotman epps Guide to Performing Bulk Email Verification Google’s Project Glass deserves plaudits for innovation, not just for the device itself but also for the process by which Google is developing and marketing the product. Studying product strategy and marketing as a Forrester analyst for almost nine years, I have never seen a company do what Google is doing: launch an entirely new form factor in such a transparent, inclusive way.The Google Glass RolloutA bit of history: Google debuted Project Glass publicly in April 2012, first on Google Plus and then on Sergey Brin at a charity event for fighting blindness later that week. From the beginning, Google X (the R&D lab that developed Glass) asked for feedback from the public on its Google Plus page.At Google I/O last June, Google demoed videos taken with Glass while skydiving and mountain biking (notably, the top comment on YouTube as I write this article is how Glass will revolutionize POV porn) and offered developers an opportunity to buy an “Explorer Edition” for $1,500.Google Glass In The Real WorldFast forward to 2013, and real developers, reporters and consumers are using Glass and talking about their experiences. The latest development in the Glass rollout is the #ifihadglass campaign: a contest for consumers to say on Twitter or Google Plus what they’d do with Glass and win an opportunity to participate in the Explorer program.Glass is still months or even a year away from launching as a consumer product, but its transparent product strategy — exposing the evolution of the product to developers, reporters and consumers — will help Google avoid the pitfalls of its past product launches. Google TV has been an expensive flop. Android tablets took two years to catch on. Chromebooks have not yet been a commercial success.Google released both of those products (Android for tablets and ChromeOS) and iterated post-launch; with Glass, it is opening the kimono before launch, and that will make a world of difference.Marketing Hardware Like SoftwareThis is software product strategy applied to hardware. In the software world, it’s common to release a beta version internally and then externally, improving the product before general release. In hardware, some small companies like Pebble are doing this but before Glass, there was no precedent for a major hardware launch to be so transparent. Secrecy is the norm in hardware, lest competitors get wind of what you’re doing and race to Taiwan to copy you.Apple is the best example of pre-launch product secrecy. Google’s transparent Glass strategy not only helps Google avoid the mistakes of its own past, it’s also Google’s best weapon to compete against Apple. Rather than compete on Apple’s terms, Google invents its own terms. It’s not just “Google-level design,” it’s Google-level marketing. And it’s working. Google received thousands of responses over a weeklong period to the #ifihadglass campaign; tech blogs – including ReadWrite – and mainstream media like The Today Show amplified the story.Social Market ResearchThe insights Google gathers from #ifihadglass submissions can help shape product development, app development and product marketing. For example, if you read the #ifihadglass tweets, you see that most of the submissions relate to sharing a point of view literally from someone’s own eyes, whether that’s for charity or sport or shopping. That’s what’s getting people really excited — Glass is tapping into a deep human need to be understood and share experiences with other people. A smaller number of posts relate to augmented reality — having data overlaid on physical space, whether that’s for entertainment or navigation or fixing something. Google product strategists and marketers don’t have to guess what excites people about their product — they already know. There are several important implications of Google’s transparent product strategy for Glass. First, I think the company will see unprecedented success for launching a pretty futuristic product — Glass will succeed at scale where similar products like MyVu and Looxcie have not. The success of Glass — and the marketing leading up to its launch — will have a halo effect for Google Plus, which Google is using as the hub for Glass conversation. (And I imagine, the default place to share photos and videos taken with Glass will be your Google Plus page.) The bottom line: Glass will be the next great platform to innovate for, and should be on every company’s radar. Glass will be the next Pinterest, Facebook, Amazon and iPhone all rolled into one.I am not looking forward to Google Glass POV porn, though.Image courtesy of Google. Dubai, Jul 3 (PTI) Tampering with the ball could now lead to a ban of up to six Tests or 12 ODIs after the International Cricket Council (ICC) made it a level 3 transgression besides adding obscenity and personal abuse to the list of offences in a bid to ensure better behaviour on the field. At the end of its annual conference in Dublin, the world body came up with its plan to curb unruly behaviour on the field that has been under the scanner for a while now in the ‘gentlemen’s game’. Upgrading ball-tampering from a level 2 to a level 3 offence has come in the wake of the row earlier this year when Australian cricketers Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft were found guilty of changing the condition of the ball during the third Test against South Africa in Cape Town. “I and my fellow Board directors were unanimous in supporting the recommendations of the Cricket Committee and Chief Executives Committee to drive improved behaviour across our sport,” ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar said. “It is vital that there is a strong deterrent to both players and administrators to ensure we have high standards of conduct in our game,” he added. Under the existing Code of Conduct back in March, the ICC had fined Smith for one Test and that had led to calls for a tougher punishment.”I’d like to thank the Cricket Committee and the Chief Executives for their commitment to improving player behaviour in the game and supporting the introduction of new offences and greater sanctions,” said ICC chief executive Dave Richardson after the five-day meet.advertisement”There is a clear desire here to reclaim cricket’s unique proposition as a game that people can trust in and for us all to live the spirit of cricket in a way that is relevant in the 21st century,” said the South African. Even last month, Sri Lankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal copped a one-Test suspension for ball-tampering during the second Test against the West Indies in St. Lucia. The Australian cricketers including captain Smith did not receive severe punishments form the ICC but Cricket Australia stepped in to slap a one-year ban on Smith and Warner following the incident that rocked the entire country. Bancroft was handed a nine-month suspension. The ICC Board also recommended the introduction of offences covering personal abuse (Level 2, 3), audible obscenity (Level 1) and disobeying umpire’s instructions (Level 1). “Attempting to gain and unfair advantage (cheating, other than ball-tampering) will now be considered a Level 2 or 3 offence,” said the ICC in a statement. “Players or support staff wanting to appeal a decision will now be required to lodge an appeal fee in advance which will be fully refundable if the appeal is successful. Stump microphone guidelines will also be changed to allow the stump microphone audio to be broadcast at any time, including when the ball is dead,” it added. Now, even the concerned member board could be held liable for its players’ behaviour. “The Board also agreed to consider how Member Boards can be held liable for its players behaviour with appropriate sanctions to be imposed on boards when the accumulated number of offences by its players exceed certain thresholds.” The ICC Board also agreed on measures to enable Zimbabwe Cricket to stabilise its business and allow cricket to flourish in the country. The ICC management will work with Zimbabwe Cricket to develop a plan for managing its cricketing, management and financial structures which will be reviewed regularly. Besides, the ICC agreed to allow a representative of the Sri Lankan Sports Minister to sit as an observer to its Board and Full Council. The ICC requested that elections for Sri Lanka Cricket are held within six months, failing which SLCs Membership status would be considered. PTI PM PM PM

The amazing thing about George Foreman goes beyond winning the heavyweight championship at the creaky boxing age of 45, after losing it at 25 to Muhammad Ali in Zaire, Africa. It’s pretty amazing that all this time later, George Foreman remains relevant. More than that, Foreman, once a boorish and mean oaf, has done so by becoming corporate America’s No. 1 pitchman. It is a position he holds unrivaled, and one no one would have pegged him for after he became this behemoth knockout artist with no room for cheer. But after losing to Jimmy Young in 1977, Foreman said he had a “religious experience.” In that moment in the locker room he decided to retire from boxing and eventually became a born-again Christian. It also was the beginning of him morphing into a Black man who would become the face of white corporate America on a significantly larger scale than O.J. Simpson and even Michael Jordan.Foreman told Sports Illustrated that he mimicked John Wayne when he walked; he adopted mannerisms like boxing champion Sonny Liston; and shaped his mustache after all-time great running back Jim Brown—three men with imposing reputations. He released those elements when he retired.“It took so long for me to find me,” he said to the magazine. “Once I did, my mom even liked me. She didn’t like me much when I was trying to be those other guys.”Ten years after retiring, Foreman, in need of money, returned to boxing with not much fanfare. Promoter Bob Arum recalled to SI: “I was not enthusiastic, realizing what a horrid person he had been.” But after spending an hour with Arum said, “This is the greatest con man in history because he was so different from what he had been before. But it wasn’t a con. He had really changed.”That change made him an embraceable pitchman. It helped that he knocked out Michael Moore at age 45 to become the oldest heavyweight champion in history.Young George Foreman was a force. His always-grinning disposition bordered on buffoonery, but he laced his persona with enough wisdom, gospel and Black empowerment for it to be more congenial than a caricature.Suddenly, with the historic victory and this warm and fuzzy person came offers to endorse products. Foreman told SI he had been hesitant about putting his name to products. But in 1991, none other than Bill Cosby called Foreman.“I don’t want to be on TV saying this and that,” the champ told the comedian.Cosby, Foreman said to the magazine, was not having it. “Come on, man. You’re no different from anyone else. You want to be on television, you want to be known,” Foreman remembers him saying. “If you don’t take ’em, I’ll take ’em.”That was the moment Foreman became the all-time pitchman. Over the years he has done commercials for Nike, Doritos, McDonald’s and Meineke. The deal that made him rich and famous came in ’94, when he agreed to lend his name to and appear in commercials for a line of indoor grills. The George Foreman Grill became a blockbuster hit, earning him more than he ever took as a boxer. He made so much money off the grills that in 1999, Salton Inc., the maker of the product, gave him $137.5 million in combined stock and cash to avoid having to continue paying him royalties, SI reported. He became the spokesperson for InventHelp last year, a company that helps people get patents for prototypes of products. He’s also launching Foreman’s Butcher Shop, a mail-order meat company with an emphasis on quality, health-conscious products sourced from family farms in the Midwest. Why does Foreman push products on all media platforms and speaking?“Never say no,” he said is his approach. He does, however, have other interests. His George Foreman Youth Center in Houston has existed for years as a place Black kids come to play sports and learn life lessons.“The kids would come in and want to learn to box,” Foreman has said. “They wanted to tear up the world, beat up the world. And I’d try to show them they didn’t need anger. They didn’t need all that killing instinct they’d read about. You can be a human being and pursue boxing as a sport.“When you speak to a lot of kids, as I’ve done over the years, you know what to say, keep them laughing, (giving them) good illustrations and (stressing to) learn to read.”Foreman has learned to live with a reality that will not go away, no matter how many products he endorses and how much he’s on TV. At the height of his career, at 40-0 with 37 knockouts, Ali knocked out Foreman in a victory that resounded around the world.“If that fight hadn’t turned out like it did, my life would have been very different,” Foreman said. “I have no regrets. They’ll be talking about it for 100 years, and they’ll always have to mention my name.”He now calls Ali one of his best friends.“After 1981, we became the best of friends,” Foreman said. “By 1984, we loved each other. I’m not closer to anyone else in this life than I am to Muhammad Ali. Why? We were forged by that first fight in Zaire, and our lives are indelibly linked by memories and photographs as young and old men.”

Hubert Alexander Minnis said, in his national address, July 26, that the Government of The Bahamas is intent on resuscitating the Grand Lucayan “as rapidly and as sustainably as possible” and thereafter sell its equity to one of the existing partners or other investors in a bid to turn the Grand Bahama economy around.Dr. Minnis said the Government has also identified a number of integrated travel and hospitality companies that can bring not only quality brands to Grand Bahama, “but also much-needed air transportation.”Prime Minister Minnis said his Administration will focus on a number of tourism initiatives “to get our economy going again” while not excluding the urgent need for diversification within tourism and other sectors and other potential areas of growth.Prime Minister Minnis said this will not happen without a successfully operating Grand Lucayan, a successfully operating Atlantis and a successfully operating Baha Mar Resort.“I recently toured Baha Mar where I received assurances from the managers of the hotel of a timeline for the mega-resort coming fully on stream. This will help to improve the fiscal condition of the country inclusive of public revenue,” Prime Minister Minnis said.“I have also visited Atlantis on Paradise Island. It is most important to our economy that both of these mega-resorts succeed. My Administration will do all that we can to ensure this outcome.“We need to get our people back to work and to get our economy on the path to making it again the envy of our region. This will not happen without a successful Baha Mar. Their success is The Bahamas’ success. We will do all we can to aid them in attaining this success,” Prime Minister Minnis added.Dr. Minnis said statistics show that while at least 65 per cent of the economic activity and more than 50 per cent of the jobs of The Bahamas are delivered from the tourism sector, just 60 per cent of the country’s hotel and resort rooms are occupied annually.“If we manage to achieve near 80 per cent occupancy in our hotels on a year-round basis, we will increase our economic activity and jobs from tourism by one-third,” Prime Minister Minnis said.“This will cause a considerable dent in the unemployment problem facing our country. Even as I have spoken at some length on Grand Lucayan, Atlantis and Baha Mar, my Government will also address the needs of the more than 250 smaller and licensed properties in Nassau, Paradise Island, Grand Bahama and throughout our Family Islands.“We will introduce further incentives to small hotels where local produce is on the menu,” Prime Minister Minnis added.
