Drake starts its trip with a match against the Air Force Academy on Friday at 6 p.m. (CDT). The Bulldogs will close their trip with a visit to 2016 College Cup participant, No. 4 Denver, on Sunday at 8 p.m. (CDT). Air Force (2-0) received 15 votes in the latest United Soccer Coaches Association Top 25 poll. The Falcons have beaten Missouri State and then No. 23 Florida Gulf Coast. Air Force holds a 3-1 in the all-time series, but Drake claimed the last meeting in 2015. Drake (0-1) dropped its first match of the 2017 season on Sunday with a 3-0 road loss at Xavier. The Musketeers scored two first-half goals as the Bulldogs recorded just one first-half shot and five total. It was the first-ever meeting between Drake and Xavier. Drake had 11 freshman or redshirt freshman play against Xavier. Redshirt freshman goalkeeper Caden McCullough (Evansville, Ind.) made his first career start and finished with four saves. Denver (2-0) has also defeated Florida Gulf Coast this season to go with a 1-0 decision over No. 24 Akron. The Pioneers are riding a 37-match unbeaten streak at home with the last loss in Denver occurring in 2014. Denver hosts Furman Friday night. Drake and Denver are playing each other for the first time since 1999. The two schools have split in the previous two head-to-head meetings.
