The outgoing Commanding Officer symbolically transferred command by passing over custody of the ship’s gun, a miniature brass cannon.Captain Jones reminded the crew of the importance of their upcoming deployment to the Middle East Region and the need for all personnel to contribute to the mission for a safe and successful outcome.Captain Jones was most recently Director of the Navy’s Sea Power Centre – Australia and commanded HMAS Newcastle from 2008 to 2010. He previously served in HMA Ships Brisbane, Success (as a Midshipman), Bunbury, Westralia, Hobart, Wollongong, Sydney, Arunta, Manoora and Parramatta.HMAS Success will deploy to Operation MANITOU, to contribute to the international effort to promote maritime security, stability and prosperity to the Middle East Region.
