To break it down, the short clip consists of a person saying… well, that’s the issue. You see, some people claim to hear “Laurel” while others claim to hear “Yanny”, which has led to some heated debates around water coolers and dinner tables the world over. Of course, there’s a perfectly logical explanation for all of this. And who better to drop this knowledge on us than John Mayer? The Dead & Company guitarist took to Instagram to explain the musical science behind the “Laurel”/”Yanny” phenomenon.
