East Rockaway Woman Struck and Killed Crossing Street, Cops Say

The victim, Carmel Kennedy, was attempting to cross Atlantic Avenue at the intersection of Ocean Avenue just after 8 p.m. when she was struck by a vehicle driven by a 19-year-old woman, police said. Kennedy suffered multiple trauma injuries, and was transported to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. Investigators performed a brake and safety check of the vehicle at the scene, but no criminality is suspected, police said. The investigation is ongoing, police said.last_img
