This year’s National Esports Tournament takes place using Blizzard’s Overwatch. The Grand Final of this tournament, which takes place in April and coincides with the London Games Festival, will see 20 schools face off against each other at Gfinity’s esports arena in London. The winners of the aforementioned Grand Final will be awarded with a custom, handmade trophy designed by UK games studio, Creative Assembly.Craig Connell, Commercial Manager, XMA-Viglen discussed the company’s involvement with the tournament: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to be involved with the Digital Schoolhouse, with our long standing experience within education and our Viglen range, it’s a great partnership. With the recent launch of our New Gaming PC’s; the Incepta range, it made perfect sense to work in conjunction with DSH and UKIE.”Pablo Calvo, Esport Coach and Marketing Manager also commented on the event: “I wanted to help develop the UK esports scene from within, guiding students in their potential career paths. It’s one of the toughest choices we make, so ensuring students have the information available is vital and what better way than showing them? That’s what the tournament does and I think that’s already a huge win for them.”Esports Insider says: Making young children aware of new, emerging career options is vital, and Digital Schoolhouse has done a great job with the National Esports Tournament so far. We look forward to seeing it return, and great that they have another partner on board.
